Hot Trends: Ellen DeGeneres Won Halloween With Her Amazing Nicki Minaj Costume

On a night when many of us dressed as ghosts, ghouls, sexy cats, and Miley Cyrus, one confident TV host emerged victorious as Halloween's best dressed - and sorry, Matt Lauer, we're not talking about you. Ellen DeGeneres' hilarious, boob-baring Nicki Minaj costume was the clear frontrunner on a day that included Miley as a similarly boob-baring Lil' Kim, Heidi Klum in eye-popping old age makeup, and Today host Lauer as beach babe Pam Anderson.

Everyone knew that the always clever Ellen DeGeneres, 55, would pull out all the stops for her Halloween costume, but I don't think anyone expected the typically modestly dressed host to show up wearing an exact replica of Nicki Minaj's very revealing get-up from a recent appearance on, well, Ellen. From the very voluptuous (and very fake) breasts to the long blonde wig to Nicki's signature high-waisted pants, Ellen essentially out-Nicki'd Nicki on her home turf, which is more than we can say for the legions of celebs who unoriginally went as Miley Cyrus.

If I'm being perfectly honest here (and of course I am) one of the best parts of Ellen's costume (besides the sideboob, obviously) was its good-spirited nature - Ellen being Ellen, there was no cruelty or mocking behind the get-up, no matter how ridiculous it was. Nicki knew this, and posted a sweet response on Twitter that only re-confirms the fact that Ellen is (and always will be!) number one:

Ellen's victory doesn't come cheap - the competition was as stiff as a zombie this Halloween. Heidi Klum, who always goes all out on All Hallow's Eve, looked amazing in her Benjamin Button-chic old age makeup, and Miley clearly turned a head or two as Lil' Kim at the 1999 VMAs. But when I think back to Halloween 2013, it's the eye-popping image of an iconic TV host baring it all that I'll remember most.
