Tom Baker and Peter Capaldi, past and future stars of Doctor Who, made cameos in tonight's 50th anniversary episode 'The Day of The Doctor'.
Baker's appearance, which the actor hinted at earlier this week, came at the very end of the episode. The enigmatic Fourth Doctor called himself 'The Curator' and helped direct Matt Smith's Doctor towards his next big adventure.
Meanwhile, Peter Capaldi, who will take over from Matt Smith as The Doctor at the end of this year's Christmas special, also popped up for the briefest of moments, as all The Doctors united to save their home planet Gallifrey.
The two cameos weren't the only nods to the show's history as there were appearances and references to Daleks, Zygons, Totter's Lane, Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf, Captain Jack Harkness, the Brigadier, the Fourth Doctor's scarf and David Tennant's famous final line - "I don't want to go".
The episode's conclusion altered the history of the show as it was explained how John Hurt's Doctor fitted into the character's history, and revealed that The Doctor's home Gallifrey was not destroyed in the Time War.
After the episode aired, the first trailer for this year's Christmas special was also revealed. Watch the trailer below:
