Hot Trends: Another sellout for PS 4 and Xbox One at Wal-Mart and GameStop

Wal-Mart and GameStop both said this morning that stores sold out of the latest shipments of Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles.

Neither retailer divulged how many Xbox One and PS 4 consoles it sold. Wal-Mart sold out last night. GameStop, which didn't open on Thanksgiving Day and stuck to its midnight Black Friday opening, did so this morning.

Neither of the video game players, that also double as movie and entertainment boxes, were even among the door busters at Wal-Mart, so it shows the appetite that's out here for the new Microsoft and Sony consoles. Xbox One retails for $499 and PS 4 sells for $399.

Joey Mooring, spokesman for Grapevine-based GameStop, said the two consoles were the most requested items overnight. Stores received a new supply of both consoles for Black Friday.

"Many of our stores sold through their inventory of the units within minutes of opening the store," Mooring said.
