"NCIS," the top-rated drama on television, didn't take long to find a replacement for the departed Cote de Pablo.

CBS confirmed Monday that Emily Wickersham will join the show as a regular starting with the Nov. 19 episode.

Wickersham, who is known from "The Sopranos" and "Gossip Girl" among other shows, will play Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop. RELATED: 'NCIS' QUIETLY BECOMES A MASSIVE HIT FOR CBS

She is described by CBS as "a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism who specializes in international threat assessment and global preparation."

Just another girl next door.

Pablo, who played Ziva David for eight seasons, left early this year under somewhat mysterious circumstances. RELATED: CBS: WE MADE EFFORT TO KEEP 'NCIS' STAR

Pablo told TV Guide she left "under my own terms" for "personal reasons." CBS CEO Les Moonves earlier said the network had offered her "a lot of money" to stay.

CBS said Tuesday the Bishop character will be introduced in the wake of a security breach she correctly foresaw two years earlier.

She will work with Mark Harmon's Jethro Gibbs to track down the source of the breach.

"NCIS," in its 11th season, is averaging more than 18 million viewers an episode, making it easily the most popular drama on television.
