Chris Brown was arrested early Sunday on felony assault charges after a man claimed the hotheaded singer attacked him and broke his nose in the nation's capital, police and the victim said.

Brown, 24, still on probation for his vicious beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, was collared in the 4:30 a.m. beatdown in front of the W Hotel on K St. in Washington.

The victim, who was hospitalized, claimed the entertainer went ballistic when he and a pal butted into a photo the R&B star was taking with two female fans. RELATED: CHRIS BROWN SLAMS 'RACIST' DA OVER 1,000 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

The man, whose name was not released, told TMZ.com that Brown shouted, "I'm not into this gay s-t. I'm into boxing."

He said Brown then punched him in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him to the ground.

The alleged victim, who was hospitalized, told the gossip website that he's hired a lawyer and plans to press charges. RELATED: CHRIS BROWN CRITICIZES JAY Z: 'HE GETS A PASS' FOR STABBING SOMEONE

Brown and his bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, 35, were charged with felony assault and expected to remain in custody at least until a bail hearing Monday.

A witness told the Daily News that Brown went "out of control" when the victim nudged his way into the fan photo with the two female fans. He said he only saw part of the incident and did not hear Brown use a homophobic slur.

"He just went nuts," the witness said of Brown. "These guys just jumped in a photo. It was a joke." RELATED: CHRIS BROWN GETS OFF THE HOOK IN HIT-AND-RUN CASE

The "Don't Judge Me" singer's attorney, Mark Geragos, declined to comment Sunday.

But a source close to Brown told the Daily News the accuser is fabricating the facts of the fisticuffs.

The source said the accuser was trying to get onto Brown's tour bus when Hollosy stopped him and an altercation broke out. RELATED: CHRIS BROWN CANCELS SERIES OF CANADIAN CONCERTS

"The report of the slur is total bulls--t. There was no slur, and this whole picture thing is pure nonsense," the source said. "These guys were trying to trespass on the bus."

The violence erupted about two hours after Brown performed at The Park at Fourteen nightclub, just four blocks from where the beating occurred. The gig was part of homecoming festivities for Howard University.

Brown is set to appear in Los Angeles court Nov. 20 for a probation hearing for the Rihanna assault. The arrest could result in Brown's probation being revoked and him getting sent to the slammer.

The incident comes after a string of recent trouble involving Brown, including a January fight over a parking space with openly gay singer Frank Ocean and a bottle-throwing nightclub brawl last year with rapper Drake.

Cops said the accusations remain under investigation.
